NO ANTISEMITISM IN SPORT: FIFA & UEFA MUST REJECT CALLS TO SUSPEND ISRAEL

To: Mr. Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA

To: Mr. Aleksander Čeferin, President of UEFA

We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the recent calls to suspend Israel from international soccer competitions governed by FIFA, the International Federation of Association Football, and UEFA, the Union of European Football Associations.

Such a move would not only be discriminatory, it would also set a dangerous precedent that turns international sport into a tool for political and antisemitic campaigns. FIFA and UEFA must make it absolutely clear: there is no place for antisemitism in sport, not now and not ever.

While we acknowledge that the recent meeting of FIFA’s ruling council in Zurich did not include a motion to suspend Israel, we urge you to affirm unequivocally that any future attempts to do so will be firmly rejected.

Singling out Israel is not justice, it is discrimination that fuels antisemitism. Such boycotts deny athletes their universal right to compete and, if accepted, would gravely damage the credibility of FIFA and UEFA.

To expel Israel or Israeli teams from international competition would not advance peace. It would instead deepen divisions, silence dialogue, and reward those who seek to delegitimize the world’s only Jewish state. This is not neutrality; it is complicity in hate.

We urge FIFA and UEFA to reject these discriminatory demands without hesitation and to reaffirm that there must be one standard for all nations and all athletes, without double standards and without antisemitism.
